Copper is an inherently corrosion resistant material which does not require special coatings to maintain its durability or its appearance. Copper s inherent properties make it an easy material to form and solder. Although the copper lining conforms closely to the gutter frame profile it should not fit tightly.

The ease with which a material can be joined to form a continuous leak free water conductor is also important. Copper gutter linings are most often built into wood framed supporting structures. The brackets are fastened to the wood fascia by two brass screws. The gutter is secured to the wood fascia with cleats at the top edge and is supported by brackets spaced at 30.

Because 20 ounce copper is 25 thicker it requires 25 more copper to make. Hung copper gutters are typically supported by brass or copper brackets or hangers spaced a maximum of 30 o c. Brass or copper straps used in conjunction with a gutter bead stiffening brass bar are recommended for gutter widths greater than 6 or where severe ice or snow conditions exist.
